Duckett Library

The Library, named after Canon Richard Duckett, who was a prime mover in the plans for building the Cathedral, is sited off the Sunk Chapel (see map) in the South Aisle of the Nave.

This lending library, staffed by volunteers, has around 4,000 religious publications. Membership is free to the Cathedral congregation, the local community and the Diocese of East Anglia.

The Library hosts talks and exhibitions from time to time, as advertised on the website. All activities are open to new members.

Donations towards the ongoing development of the Duckett Library are welcome, as are appropriate books. Cheques can be made payable to: ‘The Cathedral of St John the Baptist Duckett Library’

Opening Times

  • Tuesday and Thursday mornings: after the 10am Mass until 12.30pm
  • Sunday: after the 9am Mass
  • First Saturday of the month: after the 10am Mass until 12.00 noon
  • The Library will also be open on special occasions, as advertised from time to time, and can be opened for groups by prior arrangement with the Librarian.
