Duckett Library

The Library, named after Canon Richard Duckett, who was a prime mover in the plans for building the Cathedral, is sited off the Sunk Chapel (see map) in the South Aisle of the Nave.

This lending library, staffed by volunteers, has over 3,000 religious publications. Membership is available to the Cathedral congregation, the local community and the Diocese of East Anglia, in return for a small annual subscription (download membership form).

Donations towards the ongoing development of the Duckett Library are welcome, as are appropriate books. Cheques can be made payable to: ‘The Cathedral of St John the Baptist Duckett Library’

Opening Times

  • Tuesday and Thursday mornings: from immediately after the 10am Mass until 1pm
  • Sunday: between the 9am and 11am Masses
  • First Saturday of the month: 10.30am – 12.00 noon
  • The Library will also be open on special occasions, as advertised from time to time, and can be opened for groups by prior arrangement with the Librarian.
