Cathedral Music Group
The Music Group plays at the 9am Mass each Sunday chiefly in term time. We are a friendly group and have fun practising.
We always welcome new members. If you can sing confidently we would love to hear from you.
You don’t have to read music and there is no minimum age but you will need to pick up new tunes quickly.
During Mass we use microphones so individual tuning is also important. We’d also like to hear from instrumentalists of at least Grade 6 standard with good sight-reading ability.
We generally break for one week in the Easter holidays and for a number of weeks in the summer as well as for a week at each half term.
The commitment level is quite high but we do understand that it is sometimes necessary to miss a week.
We keep a rota so we know who is available each week and this may influence the music that we choose.
We normally have some social activity every quarter. We also undertakefundraising, such as Quiz and Fizz nights, carol singing and our Christmas stall so that we can buy new equipment and music when needed. We are sometimes asked to play at weddings.
