CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and part of Caritas International.

We are delighted to hear this years Lent appeal is being match-funded  by the UK government up to a total £3.5 million!

We’re asking people to think about the fact that clean drinking water, proper toilets and good hygiene are essential, yet millions of people don’t have access to these basic services. You can donate by text: LENT16£5 to 70070 or donate online: cafod.org.uk/lent

A couple of days ago around 40 people joined us in Newmarket for our Day of Recollection, preparing for Lent. We were able to hear about the work CAFOD is doing to provide people with healthy water, and what this means especially for women and girls. Our appeal this Lent focuses especially on this one of the seven corporal Acts of Mercy, reflected also in Jesus’ proclamation: when you give drink to those who thirst, you also give me a drink (Matthew 25).
