The Angelus
The Angelus is a short practice of devotion in honour of the Incarnation repeated three times each day, early morning, noon, and evening, at the sound of the bell. During paschal time (from Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday) the antiphon of Our Lady, "Regina cæli lætare," (Queen of Heaven rejoice) with versicle and prayer, is to be substituted for the Angelus.
The Angelus gets its name from the beginning verse in Latin Angelus Domini nuntiavit Mariæ (The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary).
