Following the success of our first webinar in July, Caritas East Anglia will be hosting a similar event on Wednesday November 11 from 7.00 to 8.30pm. Our theme will be ‘The Richness of Many Years of Life.’

Pope Francis has identified three key areas of concern for our future: the climate crisis, migration and care for the elderly. It is timely, then, especially as so many have felt acute isolation during the recent lockdown, that we turn our attention now to how we value and care for the older members of our community.

In our webinar we will hear from three speakers: from SVP working in our diocese; from Catholic Care Leeds to learn how other dioceses are working; and we will also hear a very different perspective from CAFOD of growing old in a different culture.

At the end of our first webinar, we spoke of the call from the Holy Father to prepare the future, to shape society. This webinar will give us the opportunity to move forward with that work. We will not only be looking at how we can care for our elderly in a better way, but we want to celebrate the richness that they bring to our lives and how all generations are inter-dependent and have gifts to bring to each other. We will also be discussing practical ways in which parishes can get involved.

This will be an interactive webinar, with the chance to discuss ideas in groups and to raise questions.
