A big thank you from the Justice and Peace Group for the wonderfully generous response to the ‘Knit for Peace’ project. The response has come from Catholic Churches in Aylsham, Dereham, Poringland, Lakenham and the Cathedral. The butterfly decorated box in the Narthex shop has been a joy to check each week; it seems always to be full with beautifully knitted squares in lovely colours.
We have been able to send off the first parcel this week with the help of our Unitarian friends at the Octagon Chapel in Norwich who are also ‘knitting for peace’. The parcel contained completed blankets and assorted knitted hats, much of this coming from ‘St Marks group and company’. At the moment the 150 knitted squares are being crotchet by three volunteers – one from St Johns and two from the Octagon Chapel. They will be hugely appreciated by families of refugees in France and Turkey.
