Cathedral Parishioner takes on the Cafod Walk for Water Challenge this Lent
Last Saturday I was able to take part in the Cafod Supporters Event via Zoom, which you may have seen advertised. 100 people including a number from our diocese took part. After an inspiring and challenging talk by Connor Malloy who works for Cafod in Ethiopia, I decided to sign up for the Cafod Walk For Water Challenge during Lent.
During this challenge I’ll undertake to Walk/run/dance/cycle 10,000 steps every day for 40days. I visited our parish twinning project of Tambogrande Peru 7 years ago and was confronted by the reality of water poverty and the numerous people we met who didn’t have access to a safe water supply.
I was very struck on Saturday by Connor relating the story of Abdella, a 23 year old in Afar Ethiopia. He’s the same age as our youngest son and their lives couldn’t be more different.Learn more at cafod.org.uk/lent.
I’m doing this challenge to bring hope and a different future for Abdella and others like him.
Please join me on this challenge this Lent , in prayer and by sponsoring me if you are able.
The following link will take you to my Just Giving page which I aim to keep updated with my progress.
Many thanks for your support.
We pray for all those who must spend hours each day walking to fetch water, and who dream of a better future. Through God’s grace, may our actions this Lent help to make those dreams a reality.
