Supporting the Ministry and Mission of the Cathedral Parish of St John the Baptist
It’s important to discern what support you are called to give to your parish, it may be time or money or a mixture of both. Volunteering for the parish is covered here.
Dona
If you are looking to make a one-off donation this can be easily done using the Dona portal.
Regular Giving
Regular giving is a great way to support the Parish, the more regular income the church has the better it can plan its finances and ensure that mission and parishioners are served. For UK tax payers it can also easily be enhanced by gift aid (see below).
Gift Aid
If you are a taxpayer, you are invited to Gift Aid your donation. Your gift will be topped by 25 percent, meaning a £20 offering becomes £25, at no cost to you. (Gift Aid benefits higher rate tax payers too, as it allows you to reclaim the difference between the basic and higher rate of tax for yourself when you complete your tax return.) Download the form here.
It’s important that any regular bank payment that you set up carries a reference that we can tie to the Gift Aid declaration in order for us to claim from HMRC. (We suggest your surname followed by an initial and the month start date (i.e. 0124 for Jan 2024)
Regular giving can easily be set up through on-line banking or banking app, traditional paper based standing order, or weekly envelope.
Through the your bank or building society
Monthly bank payments are the most efficient and cheapest process and fit in with most people’s income and budget which also tend to be on a monthly basis. To set up a bank payment you will need the offertory bank account details:
Name: St Johns Cathedral Parish Offertory Account
Sort Code: 60-15-31
Account No: 04911881
It’s important that you include a reference so that the finance team can associate the payments with your gift aid declaration. Please also email giving.sjbcathedral@rcdea.org.uk to advise of your donation in order that we can ensure it is recorded.
Standing order
If you don’t have online banking and would like assistance setting up a Standing Order, please email the Parish Gift Aid Coordinator at giving.sjbcathedral@rcdea.org.uk.
By Envelope
We can set up a box of weekly envelopes for you. Email the Parish Gift Aid Coordinator at giving.sjbcathedral@rcdea.org.uk envelopes and gift aid declaration form can be sent to you.
